Synchronization/Pixillation

Realtime audio/video performance

This composition explores the combination of opposing technologies within the audio and visual mediums. The resulting process sonically merges the organic sound qualities of the didgeridoo with the advanced signal processing capabilities of modern computer programming and visually combines the properties of analog distortion with the textures of digital malfunction. The Electronically Modified Didgeridoo is utilized as not only a sound creation device, but also a realtime video controller. The visuals respond to both the sound of the instrument and the direct control of the performer.

The visuals are created through a combination of homemade "dirty" analog hardware and digital processing within Max/MSP's Jitter. All aspects of the visuals are controlled from the didgeridoo.
